The Northern Strand, long desired by the communities through which it passes, received a grant from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs’ Gateway City Parks Program. The 12.5-mile multi-use trail passes through Everett, Malden, Revere, Saugus, and Lynn on the rail bed of the former Saugus Branch Railroad, providing access to the growing network of Mystic River trails. Construction was completed in 2022.
