Fall River is converting a rail line along the Quequechan River into a two-mile trail for bicyclists and pedestrians. It extends from the Westport line to downtown Fall River. The path connects previously divided neighborhoods to each other and to two sizable parks. The Gateway City Parks Program funded planning and design. The trail passes over two wooden trestle bridges to Britland Park and to a causeway in the middle of the Quequechan River and over five bridges. Panels explain river ecology and industrial history. Project partners include MassDOT and the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District.
